Business graphics

The course is taught at the Faculty of Management and is oriented on the future IT managers. It gives essential information on visual communication from the perspective of both the authors and the clients.

Course details

Time and place: Wednesdays, 14:00 @ Room 19

Evaluation:

Course evaluation consists of 1 test (80 points) taken during the lectures and a written report (20 points)
The final grade will be assessed according to the following scale:

ABCDEFx
100 - 91 90 - 81 80 - 71 70 - 61 60 - 51 50 - 0

Report (20 points)

Each students creates a written analysis of a real business graphics campaign. The analysis should cover all the aspects from lectures 01 through 07. Define the message, the means, the design decisions used and communicated by the campaign. Find the good and strong spots of the design, find the weak spots, suggest possible improvements. Analyze what the unifying elements of the different outputs are and what their differences are.

The campaign should contain at least three different visual outputs (e.g. billboard, ad page in a magazine, online banner) of the same campaign. There are plenty of other outputs to choose from (tv spot, poster, abribus/citylight, leaflet, ...).

You can either find a real world campaign (e.g. a new bank product being advertised) or you can use your graphic skills and design your own campaign.

The report is 1-2 pages long (500-800 words) and contains the pictures (photos, screenshots) of the analyzed graphics.
